Encode rescues £300,000 Business System for Norwegian Window and Door Giant

Aberdeen-based Encode, a Microsoft Dynamics Nav consultancy, has rescued a £300,000 integrated business intelligence system project for leading manufacturer of timber windows and doors in Europe, NorDan.  Encode will now continue to support NorDan UK and further develop the system, which could lead to a further £90,000 of consultancy work.

The UK division of NorDan, which has offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Gloucester and Ipswich, appointed Encode to assist with the rescue of a failing Microsoft Dynamics Nav project. NorDan UK had already invested heavily into the project for over 14 months with limited success. All known technical issues with the new business intelligence solution were resolved by Encode within four weeks of appointment.

Mike McLeish, director, Encode, said: “We are delighted to have been able to assist NorDan UK with this project.  We were approached by the company’s IT Manager after a year long struggle to deliver the solution with the previous supplier.  Within four weeks, we were able to stabilise the system, begin delivering improved customer service for their clients and provide sizable efficiency savings internally by simply doing the job it was meant to do i.e. simplifying and streamlining business processes within NorDan UK.

“Firms working within the construction industry need to deliver projects on time and on budget. Companies who invest in the right financial and operational software execute projects more efficiently, deliver higher quality results to their customers, and at the same time increase their business profitability and customer service.”

Microsoft Dynamics NAV provides financial and operational software tools for the construction industry. It can be used for every area of a business, from general accounting and payroll, to project management and manufacturing. It standardises the entire company on a single integrated business-management solution to increase productivity from people, processes and technology.

Philip Mowatt, IT Manager of NorDan UK, added: “I inherited a frustrating and costly failing project with another software firm, we were not delivering the increased standard of customer service we desired for our clients and were not reaping the benefits of this business intelligence system. Encode was able to address the implementation issues with Navision quickly and efficiently, then assisting with the deployment of the system across four further locations within a matter of weeks, integrating almost all areas of our business nationwide. We are now beginning to deliver for staff, our customers and in almost all areas of the business.

“For NorDan UK, and many other businesses in the construction industry, the right business system can dramatically increase productivity, efficiency and customer service, giving real visibility of the company’s performance. With our expansion throughout the UK, we can now forecast sales and set or assess targets through real-time information, which helps us plan for the future.”

NorDan UK Ltd supply high performance timber windows and doors throughout the UK via its four locations Aberdeen, Glasgow, Gloucester and Ipswich.

Encode Software is an Escape Group company. With offices in Aberdeen and Glasgow the company set-up in late 2008 and now has 7 employees. It operates in the construction and oil and gas sectors providing software solutions to the industry.
